July 2nd

Hola amigos! We arrived in Madrid after a long flight. We had a private bus take us from Madrid to Salamanca. On the way to Madrid we stopped for breakfast at a little market and had Spanish croissants and coffee. The bus ride from Madrid was long but pretty filled with lots of hills.

After about a two hour bus ride we arrived in Salamanca. I personally thought Salamanca was going to be a lot smaller than it actually was. It is not too small nor too big, it's just the right size where everything is in a walking distance. The town is filled with lots of shops and restaurants. When we first arrived in Salamanca we met up with our host families and and took our luggage to their house and settled in. Everyone has seemed to get along well with their families. We ate lunch with our families and then had "siesta time." Later in the evening we also had dinner with our host families and then met up with the group under the clock in the Plaza Mayor. I had only seen the Plaza Mayor in pictures and read about it. The Plaza Mayor was just as described in the articles I read about it. It is definetly one of the most happening places in Salamanca where locals gather to eat at different restaurants and watch soccer games. At the Plaza Mayor we enjoyed ice cream and took pictures. After we then headed to home to get a good night rest for the next day!
